Michael LeBarron

Head of Digital Engineering

Boston, MA

In software, beta is when something is ready to be tested by a wider audience. It’s nearly ready, but requires a wider audience. There is always something in beta, embracing that change and uncertainty is the path to improvement. In the brain, beta waves occur when we are engaged in problem solving, decision making, or focused activity.

Biography

Michael’s career leading major development teams began in the mid-90’s, with a call to a support department when he was looking to update his personal website. Michael’s call was transferred to the department manager, who offered him a job at the end of their call. He’s been working with the Internet ever since.

From a three-person venture-backed company, to a profitable ecommerce company with a few hundred employees, Michael has experienced different cultures and solved for a diverse set of business challenges, in an array of environments, and from both an engineering and product perspective.

Michael led the implementation team at Rue La La that rebuilt an entire ecommerce web site supporting millions of visitors every day. After Rue La La, he helped Gemvara modernize its product’s front end and also built a high-performing team to support the rapidly growing startup’s technological needs.

In 2013, Michael entered the services world when he joined Raizlabs. There he built a new web division within the mobile application focused company. He grew the team by 3x, modernized their internal processes, and streamlined their overall development workflow.

Michael believes that things don’t just have to work. They have to make sense, inspire engagement, and meet desired business outcomes. After all, technology is supposed to make things better and easier. When used properly, it’s transparent and intuitive, allowing us all to connect in deeper and more meaningful ways — with ourselves, with others, and with the products, services, and companies we trust.
